From the very beginning the coastal people have been shaped by their close contact with the wider world. Our seafarers felt at home on all seas and the modern coastal community continues this legacy as a quality supplier of seafood to chefs and households on every continent. The island region of Hitra and Frøya have world-class raw materials. The most famous are:
Salmon – Lerøy, Mowi and Salmar
Crab – Hitramat
Shellfish – Seashell
Deer and wild sheep – Dalpro
Cheese – Hitra Gårdsmat Honey – Hitra Frøya Beekeepers’ Association
In addition, the region has as many as 3 breweries; Storm Brygghus Hitra, Bryggeriet Frøya and the brewery at Ansnes Brygger.
Our restaurants are good at using local ingredients both in a traditional and new and creative way.
Welcome!
